Rebels aim their guns at a doll portraying the Guatemalan president, Jacobo Árbenz, during the 1954 CIA backed coup d’etat.

The sign says “Me yaman de de Rusia, paso por Arévalo” (which could be translated as ‘they call me from Russia, I go with Arévalo’), in reference to the previous Guatemalan president, Juan José Arévalo, seen as a communist by the United States and neighbouring regimes, due to his socialist policies.

It can be seen more clearly in this video footage which, according to the description of the video, would show the rebels troops in Honduras preparing for the invasion of Guatemala in June 1954.
